After growing up in a small Iowa town, I earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Iowa State University. Following a tour of service in the United States military, I moved to Chicago and worked for a nationally-recognized family business – eventually in a managerial position. Next, I completed the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management’s Executive MBA Program. Utilizing these experiences and skills, I started my own small business. I have been living on the North side of Chicago for over 15 years and am delighted to call the 46th Ward home.

Sixteen years ago, I was recruited by community members to become the first openly gay Ward Superintendent in the City of Chicago. I have utilized this appointment to build relationships with the unique and diverse residents and community leaders that live and work in our Ward. I have seen first-hand what strides have been achieved and what critical work still needs to be accomplished. I believe my expertise makes me the best candidate to ensure that each resident’s voice is heard and that positive change is achieved. I hope to continue serving the residents of the 46th Ward as your next Alderman.
